Here is Liora watching and hearing a rattle as I move it across her field of view. She tracks its progress almost from one horizon to the other. I haven't done enough reading on developmental psychology to know whether or not she understands that this is an object in space, outside of herself. But, it's clear that she earnestly wants to make it part of her experience of being. And that's enough for me to do it over and over and over again.
I haven't figured out yet whether I am more amazed at her growing perceptions and grasp of the world or at how under-developed human babies are when they emerge from the womb.
PS(Thanks for the Buffalo, NY onesie great-grandma and grandpa Levines!)
